EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! STRICT HYGIENE! AVOID EXPOSURE OF (PREGNANT) WOMEN! AVOID EXPOSURE OF ADOLESCENTS AND CHILDREN!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
  • INHALATION
  • Sweating. Nausea. Vomiting. Dizziness. Pupillary constriction, muscle cramp, excessive salivation. Laboured breathing. Convulsions. Unconsciousness. Symptoms may be delayed (see Notes).
    Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
  • MAY BE ABSORBED! (see Inhalation).
    Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
  • Redness. Pain. Pupillary constriction. Blurred vision.
Face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
  • Nausea. Vomiting. Weakness. Abdominal cramps. Diarrhoea. Pupillary constriction, muscle cramps, excessive salivation. Laboured breathing. Unconsciousness.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Rest. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Do NOT wash away into sewer. Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting, then remove to safe place. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. (extra personal protection: A/P2 filter respirator for organic vapour and harmful dust).
Separated from strong bases, food and feedstuffs. Keep in a well-ventilated room.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
    WHITE CRYSTALS

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating and on contact with acids and bases producing toxic fumes. Attacks many metals.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
    TLV not established.

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol, through the skin and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20░C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly on dust forming.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance may cause effects on the nervous system by a cholinesterase inhibiting effect , resulting in convulsions, respiratory failure, and death. Cholinesterase inhibitor. Exposure at high level may result in death. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization. The substance may have effects on the nervous system , resulting in significant depression of blood cholinesterase. Cholinesterase inhibitor; cumulative effect is possible: see acute hazards/symptoms.
    PHYSICAL
    PROPERTIES
    Melting point: 83-84░C
    Relative density (water = 1): 1.73
Solubility in water, g/100 ml at 25░C: 15.4
Vapour pressure, Pa at 20░C: <0.01
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: 0.48
    ENVIRONMENTAL
    DATA
The substance is very toxic to aquatic organisms. This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to bees and fish.
    N O T E S
Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated. The symptoms of acute intoxication do not become manifest until some hours have passed. Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available. The recommendations on this card apply to the pure form. Commercial formulations are often mixtures including impurities, solvent or other agents which modify toxic and physicochemical properties. Acrol, DEP, DANEX, DIMETOX are trade names.
